FAQ

When ordering a custom-made Barong Tagalog, accurate measurements are essential to ensure a perfect fit. Here’s a detailed measuring guide for men to help you take the correct body measurements for a custom Barong:

1. Neck (Collar)

  • How to measure: Wrap the measuring tape around the base of your neck, where the collar would sit. Make sure the tape is snug but not too tight, leaving a little room for comfort.
  • Tip: Place two fingers under the tape to ensure some breathing room.

2. Shoulders (Shoulder Width)

  • How to measure: Measure from the edge of one shoulder (where the arm begins) across the back to the edge of the other shoulder. Stand straight with your arms relaxed at your sides.
  • Tip: The tape should run straight across the back, not following the curve of your shoulders.

3. Chest

  • How to measure: Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your chest, just under your armpits. Ensure the tape is parallel to the floor and not too tight, allowing some room for ease of movement.
  • Tip: Take a deep breath while measuring to ensure a comfortable fit.

4. Waist

  • How to measure: Measure around your natural waistline, which is typically just above your belly button. Keep the tape snug but not too tight.
  • Tip: Don’t suck in your stomach while measuring to ensure the Barong fits comfortably.

5. Hips

  • How to measure: Measure around the fullest part of your hips and buttocks, ensuring the tape is level and parallel to the ground.
  • Tip: This measurement is important for a proper drape, especially if the Barong extends below the waist.

6. Sleeve Length

  • How to measure: Place the tape at the edge of your shoulder (where the shoulder seam would be) and run it down to where you want the sleeve to end. Typically, the sleeve ends just at the wrist for long-sleeved Barongs.
  • Tip: Bend your elbow slightly while measuring to allow some room for movement.

7. Armhole

  • How to measure: Wrap the tape around the circumference of your arm at the point where the arm meets the shoulder, circling the armpit.
  • Tip: Don’t hold the tape too tight, as you want enough room for comfortable arm movement.

8. Sleeve Circumference (Bicep)

  • How to measure: Measure around the fullest part of your upper arm (bicep area) while your arm is relaxed at your side.
  • Tip: This ensures the sleeve width will fit comfortably, especially with Barongs that have fuller or looser sleeves.

9. Length of Barong

  • How to measure: Measure from the top of your shoulder (where it meets the base of the neck) down to your desired length. Barongs typically fall around mid-thigh but can be shorter or longer depending on preference.
  • Tip: Ensure you are standing straight while measuring this for an accurate length.

10. Wrist

  • How to measure: Wrap the tape around your wrist where the sleeve cuff would sit. This will ensure the sleeves fit well around your wrist.
  • Tip: Leave a little extra room for comfort, especially if you prefer slightly looser cuffs.

Additional Tips:

  • Get help: It’s best to have someone else assist you when taking measurements to ensure accuracy, especially for areas like the chest, shoulders, and back.
  • Wear light clothing: When measuring, wear light, fitted clothing or take the measurements over a thin shirt to avoid adding extra bulk.
  • Double-check: Measure twice to make sure all measurements are accurate before submitting them for a custom-made Barong.

By following this guide, you’ll get precise measurements for a perfectly tailored custom Barong Tagalog that fits comfortably and looks great!
